Primary Purpose:
To assist the Communications and Creative Services division with its goal of promoting, informing and responding to stakeholders in order to ensure that HCDE receives positive visibility in the community. Ideal candidate will possess demonstrated writing and photography skills and be able to manage an integrated social media platform while assisting division staff with numerous projects and initiatives in the Communications and Client Engagement arena.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of applications
- Extensive experience in social media content management
- Ability to acquire additional software and/or programming skills as necessary for website content editing
- Demonstrated proficiency in Associated Press style, copywriting and editing. The ideal candidate will provide a portfolio of written work
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teambuilding skills, as well as the ability to build and maintain strong relationships
- Ability to multi-task projects
- Working knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop, promotions/marketing, web content management and computer knowledge
- Demonstrated proficiency in taking, editing and utilizing digital photographs (The ideal candidate will provide a portfolio of digital photography)
- Proficiency speaking and writing Spanish preferred but not required
Experience:
- Two years of marketing and communications experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist division personnel and contribute innovative ideas to projects and initiatives that improve HCDE and its divisions’ visibility and branding.
- Assist HCDE staff with writing assignments, articles, internal news and press releases.
- Work with HCDE divisions regularly to gather updated division information for varied communications needs.
- Assist the Communications Manager with special events as necessary.
- Serve as the division’s primary still photographer.
- Work with the Communications Manager on a daily basis to receive all news stories, press releases, and photographs to be prepared for up-loading to the HCDE website and social media in real-time when possible (and near real-time as acceptable).
- HCDE website: Serve as content manager for the HCDE public website; communicating regularly with division personnel and HCDE Web Content Strategist to ensure web content is timely. Edit and/or write website copy submissions.
- Work with the HCDE Web Content Strategist to train division personnel on website content updates and website policies.
- HCDE Social Media: Manage and develop content for HCDE social media sites, including: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and SmugMug. Monitor division-run social media accounts. Monitor analytics and make recommendations/changes as appropriate.
- Maintain internal news and announcements section of HCDE Intranet.
- Manage Communications and Creative Services inquiries web mailbox.
- Assist with creation and editing of promotional materials for HCDE divisions.
- Serve as back up to graphic designer as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
