Description | Primary Purpose:
- Develop, implement, manage, evaluate, and coordinate professional development training opportunities and events. Utilize a training system that supports all Head Start staff, the governing board, Head Start Policy Council members, and parents in a process of continuous learning, inclusive of meeting all training requirements prescribed in the Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS) and other federal, state and local guidelines.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Psychology, Early Childhood Education, K-12 Education or a related field
Special Knowledge/Skills:

* Knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards
* Knowledge of Texas Education Agency Prekindergarten Guidelines
* Knowledge of principles, methods and tools for formal and on-the-job professional development and training
* Knowledge of theories, strategies, and methodologies of adult learning
* Knowledge of principles and techniques of budgeting and financial management
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to interact with diverse populations and audiences
* Ability to identify and solve problems
* Ability to work cohesively on an interdisciplinary team
* Proficient in the use of computers and a variety of software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
* Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking skills a plus
Experience:
- Minimum of three years experience of hands-on and/or coordinating training experience in the area of early education or health education, or other experience in a human-services setting
- Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating training goals and needs for individuals and groups
- Knowledge of Head Start strongly preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Model HCDE and Head Start’s mission, vision, and values.
- Work in collaboration with managers and coordinators assessing training and designing training program for Head Star and provide training as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain a written plan and procedures for implementing Head Start training.
- Ensure all Head Start staff and consultants are oriented to the program.
- Coordinate training schedule and evaluate applicable outside logistics and training resources, including but not limited to, staff development days, Policy Council and annual training events.
- Provide training calendars and ongoing communication to staff, consultants and parents regarding training opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and thorough training records, including the Head Start databases.
- Manage multiple projects and effectively meet deadlines.
- Track and support staff working to meet education qualifications.
- Manage and coordinate staff travel arrangements.
- Coordinate job fairs and conferences along with managers and administrative staff.
- Engage with community agencies to acquire training opportunities for the Head Start program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
