Primary Purpose:
- Facilitate the effective operation of the school administrative office and provide clerical services for the school's administrative staff.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Bilingual skills preferred
- Knowledge of PowerSchool
- Working knowledge of Excel and spreadsheets
- Ability to learn and utilize specialized therapeutic restraint techniques to control student behavior, when appropriate
- Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute
- Proficient skills in typing, word processing, filing and account maintenance
- Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to operate and trouble-shoot computers and other office equipment
- Secretarial experience in a public education environment preferred
- Ability to use the English language proficiently
- Ability to perform basic mathematical operations
- Ability to work within a specified behavior management system
- Ability to communicate effectively orally as well as written expression
Experience:
- One year of clerical experience
- Experience working with students with special needs and students in at-risk situations
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Organize and manage the routine work activities in the school assigned.
- Assist students, teachers and parents as needed.
- Assist in compiling information for preparing various reports.
- Receive incoming calls and route messages to appropriate staff.
- Maintain proper files to include inventory of school supplies, mailing lists, student records, visitor logs, and office communications.
- Receive, store and issue supplies and equipment.
- Sort, distribute or deliver mail and other documents.
- Prepare instructional materials and meeting agendas.
- Maintain a daily teacher attendance log and the records for substitute teachers.
- Type all changes and adjustments in student schedules as requested.
- Schedule meetings and appointments and maintain calendar -for principal, assistant principal as appropriate.
- Perform routine bookkeeping tasks.
- Input and maintain student attendance
- Input student data such as monthly/weekly and discipline referrals to client districts
- Keep informed of and comply with state, department, and division policies and regulations concerning primary job functions.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Treat all staff with dignity, integrity and respect.
- Conduct physical searches as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the campus principal and senior director.
